Alyssa is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern experienced in providing trauma informed advocacy and counseling to survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and childhood abuse. Empowering clients to gain awareness of their own strength and resilience is one of Alyssa’s greatest passions. Alyssa utilizes EMDR in an integrated, holistic approach to help resolve traumatic and painful memories by using bilateral stimulation to engage the brain’s natural healing abilities. In this approach, negative core beliefs are identified and replaced with positive adaptive beliefs to help clients heal from the past, reclaim the present, and look forward to the future. Alyssa believes that the body and mind tend toward healing and that each of us has the capacity to grow and experience positive change. Her aim is to facilitate healing and growth through instilling hope, promoting healthy risk taking, and encouraging self-awareness. Alyssa fosters a safe, trusting, and non-judgmental therapeutic environment where clients can experience true empathy and healing.
